Maybe all of us were expecting that Paris is perfect, beautiful people, high-class fashion, clean and the best place to fall in love. I’m with you, I expected a lot! MJ would always tell me that I shouldn’t expect too much, just wait and see.
First, our luggages were gone. I mean, it was not on the baggage carousel, we looked for it and saw it in an office with no one inside. So, we just sneaked in and took our luggages. Talk about, airport security!
Since, it was our ‘first’ travel together and I still didn’t have reliable experiences on traveling, we took the public transpo. The stations and trains were very unlikely. It was like I was on a scary movie. I wanted to go home and I remember asking MJ why we even went to Paris. I am not saying that all stations were like that but all the stations we went to was the same. You’ll get intimidated of the people looking at you and uncomfortable of sitting in the train. But still, Paris is always a good idea! HAHA!
We stayed at Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Republique area. It was conveniently located near cafes and metro. The exteriors and stairways of the hotel has a classic Parisian aura. The breakfast was superb and staff were helpful. Right after checking in, we started to visit the must in Paris.
NOTRE- DAME de PARIS. The long line of people wanting to go inside will tell you that it’s the Notre-dame! We didn’t know what to expect and how does the church looked like so we decided to line with hundreds of others!
We never thought that our first mission would be the 422 steps of narrowed cathedral staircase!! (What a day!!) I swear, I wanted to go out halfway our climb but you just can’t go down and meet the rest of the people on their way up. Also, one must be careful holding the rails and walking every step since it was really tight! When all the staircase was over, a bookstore and souvenir shop welcomed us. We bought water not souvenirs! 😂
But every sweat and shortness og breath made sense.. we were standing on the heart of Paris.
It was beautiful ❤️
From that moment on, I realized why Paris is on everyone’s bucket list.
THE EIFFEL TOWER. All the stress of our 1st day was gone. The presence of Eiffel tower was really striking! Few steps from the metro exit you could already see the iconic landmark of Paris.. My knees were shaking walking towards the tower, I can’t believe that I’m already in my reality that I didn’t noticed it was raining.
I am in love ❤️
PS: To fulfill my bucket list, I watched the Eiffel tower while having the equally famous Nutella crepe with the love of my life.
To kill our time and since we did not have other plans, we decided to do sightseeing cruise on the PARIS SEINE RIVER. The port of the boats were close enough to the tower that you can’t miss it! This was one of the best decisions we made, seeing the bridges, old architectures and the places we know we can’t visit due to limited time.
After almost 2 hours of sightseeing, I couldn’t believe what I saw from the boat going back to the port.. IT WAS JAW-DROPPING! I was like a kid that saw her fave disney princess!!
It was shimmery, dazzling.. it was perfect!!!❤️
I can definitely say that Eiffel Tower is one of those things one must experience at least once in a lifetime.
Once again, we saw a line from the tower and since it was shorter than the one in Notre-Dame we tried it again. We were not after the view this time, we went there because I wanted to touch and admire the tower the closest way possible. By the way, we made sure that there is an elevator inside the tower.
We went back to our hotel later than what we expected.. Fortunately, there were still restaurants open.. Highly recommended was Pizza Pino for huge and tasty servings.
The continuation of our tour happened early the next day.
It started at the largest art museum in the world..
THE LOUVRE. No definite plans again, we went inside, bought our tickets and used almost 3 hours of our day in the museum. True enough, the place was HUGE!
The world-class masterpieces were amazing made by phenomenal artists such as Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.
- Monalisa. The small portrait that sits at the back of a bullet proof glass is the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, the most parodied work of art in the world. You may wonder why it is so famous and very expensive, I found the answer in an instant. The moment I stared at her, it gave me goosebumps..her eyes, her face that looks old and looks young at the same time, both the smile and grimace on her face.. it was mysterious. It will make you wonder.
ARC de TRIOMPHE. As explained by Google, The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.
SACRE COEUR (The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris). A Roman Catholic Church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. You can take the cable car for few euros or walk the 300 steps up to the church. Certainly, we utilized the cable car. The Sacre Coeur provides the 2nd highest viewpoint in Paris, after Eiffel Tower.
There are a lot of restaurants in the area. We tried Glaces since it was not crowded.
Anyway, this trip was during my 22nd birthday, that’s why the pandora bag was on the scene. Thanks to the boyfriend!
DISNEYLAND PARIS. We had a deal that we will visit Disneyland together when the time is right, when we have our ‘little ones’. MJ’s magical stories about his stay at Disneyland’s Toy Story hotel is enough, for now. He had several memories like, having breakfast with Mickey and everyday service of Sheriff Woody and Buzz. Hearing him reminisce made me even happier.
Before entering Disneyland, there is Disney village. Here you can enjoy some rides, buy souvenirs and eat. Safe to say, we traveled outside Paris city centre to have dinner at Planet Hollywood.
After 2 days of croissant, we gave up. Best solution is always chinese restaurants.
We thought that we already saw enough of Paris. That is why our last day was spent on our balcony, some shopping and more crepes!
I always like to celebrate my birthdays with my family but living miles away makes it hard to achieve.. Thus, it was the best idea to travel to Paris and pull off my Parisian dream.
Paris is not perfect just like every city in the world. Don’t put your hopes high. Get travel insurance if you can since there a lot of bad people around which is like in every popular place we know. Of all the things you need to guard while in Paris, guard your HEART because you might lose it in the city of LOVE.
