I am willing to set aside all other tourist attractions in Portugal but not Fatima. As if there was something inside of me that pushed me to be here. And as if everthing were destined, Mama Mary had apparitions to the 3 shepherd children every 13th of the month for 6 straight months. I was born on the 13th of April and I considered it as a sign to pursue my visit. A visit for thanksgiving and unending prayers.
Practically speaking, its not budget friendly to drive from Algarve to Fatima. The toll fees were high-priced even more expensive than we have in Oslo. Not budget friendly, at all! Anyway, the 4 hour drive and costs were worth it.
We entered the BASILICA OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY. You can find the sheperd children’s graves here.
We then reached the center of the SANCTUARY OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA.
To the CHAPEL OF THE APPARITIONS. Here is the exact location of the Marian apparitions. We were so lucky to have heard the mass (though in Portugese).
Many people around the world chooses the Shrine of Fatima for pilgrimage and now I understand why, it is right and just that it is called the Altar of the World.
BASILICA OF THE HOLY TRINITY
Across the Basilica of the Our Lady of Rosary is a very minimalist yet another big and incredible Basilica. It can house 9000 pilgrims and said to be 4th of the largest catholic church in the world.
Outside the Basilica of the Holy Trinity is another sight with monuments and statues to behold.
A short drive from the shrine is the village where the children lived. Being here made everything even more real and justified. Their houses were just few steps from each other.
I was able to take home 3 validations after visiting Fatima.
- MIRACLES HAPPEN EVERYDAY.
- WITH FAITH, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
- PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.
